Many ant species live in complex societies. Each ant in the society has a specific role. For example, the queen ant lays eggs. W

arrior ants guard the queen. Nursery ants take care of the hatched larvae, and worker ants build the mound and find food. How does this social order help ant populations?
A. It ensures that members of an ant colony compete over mates and food.
B. It ensures that ant populations never get to be too large.
C. It ensures that ant colonies will not have to compete with other ant colonies. D. It ensures that labor and resources are adequately shared.

In blue-white screening, what do blue colonies represent?
Basile [38]

Answer:

The correct option is : cells containing empty plasmid vectors

Explanation:

The blue-white screen is a technique which involves the rapid identification of the recombinant bacteria in a vector-based molecular cloning experiment. In this method, a DNA ligated vector is inserted in a host cell which is viable for transformation and grown in presence of X-gal.

The cells that are transformed with the vectors having the recombinant DNA produce the white colonies. Whereas, the cells transformed with empty vector i.e. the non-recombinant plasmids, produce the blue colonies.

Identify the gland and hormone(s) affected by oophorectomy
xz_007 [3.2K]

Answer: pituitary gland

Explanation: In an oophorectomy procedure as both ovaries were removed due to which hypothalamus, pituitary and ovarian axis mainly damaged. When ovaries removed than LH (luteinizing hormone) and FSH ( follicle stimulating hormone) level increased by the pituitary gland. The hormones that are produced by ovaries also decrease in which estrogen and progesterone level decreased which cause list of problems in females.

How do the cells in meiosis differ from the cells in mitosis
Karo-lina-s [1.5K]
The purpose of mitosis is cell regeneration, growth, and asexual reproduction, while the purpose of meiosis is the production of gametes for sexual reproduction. Mitosis is a single nuclear division that results in two nuclei that are usually partitioned into two new daughter cells. The nuclei resulting from a mitotic division are genetically identical to the original nucleus. They have the same number of sets of chromosomes, one set in the case of haploid cells and two sets in the case of diploid cells. In most plants and all animal species, it is typically diploid cells that undergo mitosis to form new diploid cells. In contrast, meiosis consists of two nuclear divisions resulting in four nuclei that are usually partitioned into four new haploid daughter cells. The nuclei resulting from meiosis are not genetically identical and they contain one chromosome set only. This is half the number of chromosome sets in the original cell, which is diploid.
