One of the most significant works of Old English Literature, this epic through its stanzas narrates the tale a hero, Beowulf of the Geats. It talks about how he defeated Grendel, a monster who attacked Hrothgar, the king of Danes. He then became the king of the Geats and after fifty years he again showed how brave he was when he fought a dragon single-handed and defeated it. But this duel left him wounded mortally. After his death, his subjects erected a tower in his memory.
