They were also on their own, and their spirits greatly suffered. However, the received help from the Native Americans and this allowed them to survive. By the time the first Thanksgiving arrived, the Pilgrims were thabkful fo the abundance of food they had obtained. They were also thankful for their health, the peace treaty and their shelter.
