2x - 3 = sally's berries

x= jim's berries

2x - 3 + x = 21 } equation
3x - 3 = 22 } simplified
+3 +3
3x = 25
---- ----
3 3
x = 8

21 - 8 = 13

sally picked 13 apples

A decorative floor pattern has 1 red square tile surrounded by 12 blue tiles. Wrote and evaluate an expression to show how many
ehidna [41]

This question is worded badly, so don't be alarmed.

Obviously if this were a square patter the number of red tiles could only be 1,4,9,16,25,36 etc and this is not the numbers given...It would help tremendously if they gave you another reference point so as to know how the tiles were being laid out.

If they are laid out alongside one another with a consistent border for each you wouldn't need 12 blue tiles for each red tile either...if two were laid side by side you would only need 20 blue tiles to have the border around both...you see how the arrangement makes a huge difference and you are given no details as to what that arrangement is...

So just to keep it simple, assume that each red tile is surrounded by 12 blue tiles....

Total tiles equals r+12r=13r

t=13r so

t(15)=195, t(20)=260, t(25)=325, t(30)=390

A woman passed gas silently. I said "it stinks", and she said "I apologize. Excuse me". Why did she say both of those things?
Vikki [24]
She says “I apologise” because she feels bad that she made a bad smell and she says “excuse me” because she wants you to accept her apology

$7,050. Because the term "liquid Assets" refer to money, investments, and generally things that can be liquidated into direct cash in less than 30 days. So if you add the $550 in the Checking Account, and $6500 in investments. You get $7050

4. Two points on a line are (-10, 1) and (5, -5). If
Vsevolod [243]

Answer:

The x-coordinate of another point is zero

Step-by-step explanation:

step 1

Find the slope between the two given points

The formula to calculate the slope between two points is equal to

m=\frac{y2-y1}{x2-x1}

we have

(-10,1),(5,-5)

substitute in the formula

m=\frac{-5-1}{5+10}

m=\frac{-6}{15}

Simplify

m=-\frac{2}{5}

step 2

Find the x-coordinate of another point

we have

(x,-3)

we know that

If the other point is on the line, then the slope between the other point and any of the other two points must be the same

so

Find the slope between the points

(x,-3),(5,-5)

Remember that

m=-\frac{2}{5}

substitute in the formula

-\frac{2}{5}=\frac{-5+3}{5-x}

-\frac{2}{5}=-\frac{2}{5-x}

the denominators must be the same

5=5-x

x=0

therefore

The x-coordinate of another point is zero
