1. Betty collected 42 petition signatures on the first day, 49 on the second day, and 56 on the third day. If this pattern continues, how many signatures will she collect on the fourth day? Explain how you obtained your answer.

The pattern is getting 7 more signatures everyday.

56 + 7 = 63

I found this answer by finding the rule and adding it to the third day to get the total amount of signatures for the fourth day.

nexus9112 [7]

Remark

Are you sure you don't mean that (x - 7) is squared? The way you have written it indicates that it is squared. I'll treat it that way and you can leave a not if I am wrong.

Solution

(x - 7)^2 - 25 = 0                 Add 25 to both sides

(x - 7)^2 - 25 + 25 = 25      Combine the left

(x - 7)^2 = 25                       Take the square root of both sides.

sqrt(x - 7)^2 = sqrt(25)

x - 7 = +/-   5                        Add 7 to both sides

x = 7 +/- 5

=========

x1 = 7 + 5

x1 = 12

x2 = 7 - 5

x2 = 2

Smallest x = 2

Largest x = 12

There is a spinner with 12 equal areas, numbered 1 through 12. If the spinner is spun
Tomtit [17]

Answer:

1/12

Step-by-step explanation:

There is only number between 1 and 12 that is both a multiple of 5 and 2, that being 10. 10 has an equal chance out of all the other numbers that can be spun, and there are 12 numbers, so 10 has a 1/12 chance of being spun.
