Answer:

The sub-threshold stimulus are those which does not have an amplitude large enough to open voltage-gated sodium channels and initiate an action potential.

A suprathreshold or supramaximal stimulus is the one which deplorizes the neurons and initiates the action potential resulting into motor unit responses.

However, this nerve depolarization is suprathreshold but not supra maximal when depolarization but is not strong enough to cause action potential and resulting motor response.

Explanation:

The process of generating an action potential consisted of hyperpolarization, depolarization, overshoot and then repolarization of neurons to open and close voltage-gated sodium channels in muscles. Hence, when signal transduction occurs to initiate depolarization of sodium channel, a signal of strong amplitude causing opening of voltage-gated channels are known as suprathreshold. Later, this depolarization process when results into generation of action potential and resulting motor unit response, it is known as a supramaximal stimulus. However, if the threshold does not produce action potential and is only able to cause depolarization, then the stimulus is suprathreshold but submaximal.

An action potential is caused by either threshold or suprathreshold stimuli upon a neuron. It consists of four phases; hypopolarization, depolarization, overshoot, and repolarization. An action potential propagates along the cell membrane of an axon until it reaches the terminal button.

A nurse is teaching a patient about a prescription for a monoamine oxidase (mao) inhibitor for depression. what will the nurse t
grin007 [14]

Answer:Aged cheeses

Explanation:Aged cheeses are rich in tyramine, which interacts with MAO inhibitors to raise blood pressure to life-threatening levels. Patients taking MAO inhibitors should be taught to avoid tyramine-rich foods. Chianti wine contains tyramine, but other alcoholic beverages do not. Brussels sprouts and cabbage are foods rich in vitamin K, which can interfere with the effects of warfarin. Grapefruit juice inhibits CYP3A4 and interferes with the metabolism of many medications.

You receive the following prescription: Jessie DeCato Age: 3 Weight: 22 lbs Acyclovir oral suspension 20mg/kg four times daily x
DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

The dose for this patient should be 800 mg per day, ie., 4000 mg in total for 5 days.

Explanation:

2.2 lbs: 1 kilogram

22 lbs: 10 kilograms

Acyclovir oral suspension 20mg/kg >> 10 kg: 200 mg

This needs to be repeated four times in a day (i.e., every 6 hours) during five days >>

200 mg x 4 = 800 mg >>

800 mg x 5 days = 4000 mg

Your team is caring for a term newborn whose heart rate is 50 bpm after receiving effective ventilation, chest compressions, and
icang [17]

The gasping respiration, and positive pressure ventilation via face cover should be started with 21 percent oxygen or blended oxygen using a self-inflating bag, flow-inflating bag.

What should you do if the neonate's heart rate falls below 60 beats per minute?

If the heart rate drops 60 bpm despite good oxygenation and ventilation, start chest contractions.

If the heart stays drops 60 bpm after 30-45 seconds of cogent chest squeezes, epinephrine 10 mcg/kg should be nursed intravenously.

Thus, positive pressure ventilation via face cover should be initiated with 21 percent oxygen.
