The coordinates of points in the graph are,

(-4,-1), (-2,1), (0,-3), (2,3)
and

(4,-2)
Any other point whose first coordinate(the x-co-ordinate) coincides with one of these points will make the relation not a function.

The relation becomes one- to-many relation which is not a function.

It will also fail the vertical line test , if the points are connected with line segments.

One of such point is,

(4,3)

John had a bag of marbles as shown below.
Montano1993 [528]

Answer:

\sf A) \quad \dfrac{9}{100}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • 3 green marbles
  • 4 blue marbles
  • 2 red marbles
  • 1 yellow marble

Total number of marbles = 3 + 4 + 2 + 1 = 10

\sf Probability\:of\:an\:event\:occurring = \dfrac{Number\:of\:ways\:it\:can\:occur}{Total\:number\:of\:possible\:outcomes}

Probability of selecting a green marble on first pick:

\implies \sf P(green\:marble)=\dfrac{3}{10}

Probability of selecting a green marble on second pick:

\implies \sf P(green\:marble)=\dfrac{3}{10}

(as the 1st pick was replaced)

Therefore,

\implies \textsf{P(green marble) and P(green marble)} \sf =\dfrac{3}{10} \times \dfrac{3}{10}=\dfrac{9}{100}

"Nathan takes 42 minutes to thread a distance of 4.5 miles on a threadmill. Determine the average distance covered in one minute
Viefleur [7K]

Solution:

we are given that

Nathan takes 42 minutes to thread a distance of 4.5 miles on a threadmill.

we have been asked to find the average distance covered in one minute.

Using the  concept of unity we can write

Since Nathan takes 42 minutes to cover a distance of 4.5 miles.

So in 1 minute Nathan will cover a distance of =\frac{4.5}{42} =1.07142miles

Hence avearge distance covered in one minute is 1.1 miles.
