The correct answer is that different genes are expressed in different cells.

The cellular differentiation is the process in developmental biology where a cell modifies from one kind of cell to another. Most generally the cells are modified to a more specialized kind. Differentiation takes place various times at the time of development of a multicellular species as it modifies from a basic zygote to a composite system of tissues and kinds of cells.

What is the difference between a GMO and cloning
viktelen [127]

Answer:

A GMO Genetically Modified Product though similar to cloning is quite different. Cloning is the process of using egg cells from an individual to produce a new organism. When the baby is born, it is genetically identical to the parent, an exact copy. This process occurs in a lab. Genetic Engineering, which is used to make GMOs, uses technology to alter or change an organism's genes. New genetic information can be added to or removed from an existing set of DNA.

So I would say that some of the differences between GMOs and cloning include that:

Cloning strives to create exact copies of an organism's parent while GMOs remove and add different genes to form desired offsprings like making a product last longer or making the product grow larger faster.

Hopefully, this helped you! Have a nice day :)

Some molecules found in foods are known to be capable of driving DNA methylation or DNA demethylation. For example, folic acid (
Rufina [12.5K]

Answer: Eating excessive quantities of such molecules could deregulate this process, increasing methylation and repressing the expression of genes that should normally be expressed.

Explanation:

DNA methylation is one of the epigenetic mechanisms involved in the regulation of gene expression, because it is a process by which methyl groups are added to DNA.

Methylation then modifies the function of DNA when it is found in the promoter gene, it is essential for normal development and is associated with a number of key processes, including genomic imprinting, inactivation of the X chromosome, repression of repeating elements, aging, and carcinogenesis. Usually, it acts to suppress gene transcription.

For example, folic acid is essential for the rapid cell division that occurs during early fetal development and it also plays an important role in methylation and thus in gene regulation. The metabolism of these vitamins is aimed at achieving adequate levels of DNA methylation, necessary for the cellular processes. Eating excessive quantities of such molecules could deregulate this process, increasing methylation and repressing the expression of genes that should normally be expressed.
