Answer:

1) Even for first problem.

2) Neither for the second.

I really think the problem I labeled 1 is the correct interpretation but just in case you meant the latter I wrote the latter as well. The sentence translates to exactly what I have for problem number 1.

The Problem:

1) Determine if f(x)=x+\frac{4}{x} is even, odd, or neither.

2) Determine if f(x)=\frac{x+4}{x} is even, odd, or neither.

Step-by-step explanation:

f(-x)=f(x) implies f is even.

f(-x)=-f(x) implies f is odd.

So either definition says we have to plug in -x.

1)

f(x)=x+\frac{4}{x} with new input -x:

f(-x)=-x+\frac{4}{-x}

f(-x)=-x+-\frac{4}{x}

f(-x)=-(x+\frac{4}{x})

f(-x)=-f(x)

This means f is even since we got the same thing we started with.

2)

f(x)=\frac{x+4}{x} with new input -x:

f(-x)=\frac{-x+4}{-x}

f(-x)=\frac{-(x-4)}{-x}

f(-x)=\frac{x-4}{x}

This is neither the same or the opposite of what we started with.

Use the elimination method to solve the system of equations. Choose the
MatroZZZ [7]

Answer:

C

Step-by-step explanation:

7x + 3y = 30 (equation 1)

-2x + 3y = 3 (equation 2)

9x = 27 (subtract the two equations to eliminate y)

x = 3 (divide by 9)

7 * 3 + 3y = 30 (Substitute x = 3 into equation 1, it doesn't matter which equation you substitute into)

21 + 3y = 30 (7 * 3 = 21)

3y = 9 (Subtract 21)

y = 3 (divide by 3)

Answer is (3, 3)

hodyreva [135]

Answer:

-1.99, 1.99

Step-by-step explanation:

Use a table to find the z-scores.

For the first z-score:

P(x < z) = 0.0233

z = -1.99

For the second z-score:

P(x > z) = 0.0233

P(x < z) = 1 − 0.0233 = 0.9767

z = 1.99

Line AB contains points A (-1,3) amd B (5,3). Line AB has a slope
Luba_88 [7]
Hello!

To calculate the slope given two points, we use the formula y2-y1/x2-x1. You can switch the ones and twos and the slope will be the same. We will have (-1,3) represent (x1,y1) and (5,3) represent (x2,y2).

Now we plug these numbers into the equation.

3-3/5+1
0/6
Undefined

Since the number is divided by zero, the slope is undefined, or the line is vertical. Just to check, we will switch the ones and twos.

3-3/-6
0/-6
Undefined

Our line is vertical, therefore our slope is undefined.

I hope this helps!
