Justify means plug answer in and verify

so distribute 8(3-7x)=24-56x

143=7+24-56x
143=31-56x
minus 31 both sides
112=-56x
divide both sides by -56
-2=x

justify

plug it back
143=7+8(3-7x)
143=7+8(3-7(-2))
143=7+8(3-(-14))
143=7+8(3+14)
143=7+8(17)
143=7+136
143=143

true

x=-2

Write and solve an equation to find the value of each variable
yan [13]
Check the picture below.

as you can see in the picture, the "near arc" is x°, and the "far arc", is the leftover from subtracting the arc of 120° and x°, therefore then

\bf 44=\cfrac{\stackrel{far~arc}{(360-x-120)~~-~~\stackrel{near~arc}{x}}}{2}\implies 88=240-2x
\\\\\\
2x=152\implies x=\cfrac{152}{2}\implies x=76

2p^2 -1 =7 <br> Would appreciate some help thank you
SIZIF [17.4K]

Answer: p = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this problem, you first have to add 1 to each side of the equation, leaving you with 2p^2 = 8. Then you divide by 2 on both sides leaving you with p^2 = 4. After that, you take the square root of both sides, and because 4 is a perfect square, you get p = 2 as your final answer.

Jack charges $40 initial fee plus $30 an hour to work on vehicles. Mark charges $25 an hour with a $50 initial fee. to work on v
Nostrana [21]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the equal number of hours be represented by variable H;

The two equations will be as follows;

Jack; 40 +30H

Mark; 50 +25H

Next, equate them;

40 + 30H = 50 + 25H

30H - 25H = 50 - 40

5H = 10

H =10/5

H = 2hrs

Therefore, they charge the same amount at 2 hrs.

B.) The amount charged;

Replace the variable H in any of the two equations above with 2 to solve for the amount.

Equation 40+30H = 40 + (30*2)

=40 + 60

= $100
