Read the excerpt from "The Scarlet Ibis.” When he was two, if you laid him on his stomach, he began to try to move himself, stra

ining terribly. The doctor said that with his weak heart this strain would probably kill him, but it didn’t. Trembling, he’d push himself up, turning first red, then a soft purple, and finally collapse back onto the bed like an old worn-out doll. I can still see Mama watching him, her hand pressed tight across her mouth, her eyes wide and unblinking. But he learned to crawl (it was his third winter), and we brought him out of the front bedroom, putting him on the rug before the fireplace. For the first time he became one of us. What does the underlined imagery in this excerpt show about Doodle? He is silly and enjoys making others laugh. He is easily upset and likes to throw tantrums. He is physically weak and avoids hard work. He is determined and does not give up easily.

Answer:

He is determined and does not give up easily.

Explanation:

From this excerpt, we can conclude that Doodle is determined and does not give up easily. This is clear from the way he behaved when he was a baby. Although Doodle is born with a weak heart, and would be expected to not try much in life, he nevertheless is extremely determined to do things. He learns how to push himself up, even though it is terribly difficult for him to do so. He also learns to crawl.

Read the passage from “The Caged Bird.”
Sever21 [200]

Answer:

The correct answers are : relaxation and peacefulness.

Explanation:

In this poem by Maya Angelou it is reflected how a caged bird yearns for freedom, wants to be free like other birds.

From his cage he can see the relaxation and peace that these trees transmit, and he wishes he felt that way and could fly freely. That is the image that the author wants to transmit, the peace and tranquility that the wind from those trees causes.

All it sees through the cage is what it longs for but can't get.
