From this excerpt, we can conclude that Doodle is determined and does not give up easily. This is clear from the way he behaved when he was a baby. Although Doodle is born with a weak heart, and would be expected to not try much in life, he nevertheless is extremely determined to do things. He learns how to push himself up, even though it is terribly difficult for him to do so. He also learns to crawl.
The reading strategy i use is context clues. If you use context clues it will help you visualize what you are reading and then you can make a inference.
