The fairy tale story of "The Twelve Dancing Princesses" is a short story written by the Grimm brothers in 1812. Labelled as Tale number 133, the story revolves around the secret night dancing of the twelve princesses without the knowledge of their father, the king.

The eldest of the twelve princesses seem to have a lot of voice and authority over her sisters. She was the one who gave the soldier the sleeping draught, and also refuted any of the comments made by the youngest sister when she suspects that someone or something is not right during their midnight escapes. Thus, the character trait of the eldest princess can be said as dominating and seem to have more confidence than her sisters.
