Adding a negative number is the same as subtracting a positive number. So 2315.5 - 3166.75 = -851.25

A bowl contains 4 tangerines and 5 clementines. John randomly selects one piece of fruit, and then Pam randomly selects one of t
andre [41]

Answer:

5/18

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 9 pieces of fruit in the bowl,  tangerines and 5 clementines.

Assuming that they do not put the fruit back

P (tangerine) = number of tangerines/ total = 4/9

Then John keeps his and there are  8 pieces of fruit in the bowl,

3 tangerines and 5 clementines.

P (Clementine) = number of clementines/ total = 5/8

P (tangerine, no replacement, Clementine) = P (tangerine) * P (Clementine)

                                                                        = 4/9 * 5/8 =5/18

I need some help on this question. Segment LM is the midsegment of trapezoid ABCD. AB=48, and DC=88. What is LM? I am not sure h
agasfer [191]
AB=48, DC=88

48+88=136
136÷2=68

Answer: LM=68
Remember that the length of the mid segment in a trapezoid is half the sum of the base lengths.

Pilar says that two linear systems below have the same solution. (see picture) Is she correct? Explain.
wariber [46]
The first set:

3x + 2y = 2  ---1)
5x + 4y = 6  ---2)

From 1), multiply all by 2, 6x + 4y = 4  ---3)

3) - 2),

6x + 4y - (5x + 4y) = 6 - 4
6x + 4y - 5x - 4y = 2
x = 2

Sub in x = 2 into 1),

3(2) + 2y = 2
2y = -4
y = -2

(2 , -2)

The second set:

3x + 2y = 2  ---1)
11x + 8y = 10  ---2)

From 1), multiply all by 4, 12x + 8y = 8 ---3)

3) - 2),

12x + 8y - (11x + 8y) = 8 - 10
12x + 8y - 11x - 8y = -2
x = -2

From this x value alone, we can tell that these two linear systems do NOT have the same solution as they meet at different coordinates.

Hope this helped! Ask me if there's any working from here that you don't understand! :)
