The first person narrator is most often part of the story that is being told, that is to say, the narrator is a character in the narration. It can also be the case that the narrator is only recounting the events from his own perspective without fully being immersed in the actions of the narration. A good example of both kinds of first person narrators is <em>Don Quixote</em>, where the narrator at some points of the story seems to be part of the story, since it is said that the first part of the novel that he published created consequences that are developed in the second part of the novel, and at some points, he claims to only be narrating the events in the novel, since he is the one who found the manuscripts telling the story about the Quixote, and he is only transcribing them.
