Mathematics

First find the value of "x", by isolating/getting the variable "x" by itself in the equation:

x - 12 = -15   Add 12 on both sides to get "x" by itself in the equation

x - 12 + 12 = -15 + 12

x = -3

Now that you found the value of x, you can use it to find the value of 4 - x

4 - x        Substitute/Plug in -3 for "x"

4 - (-3)    [two negative signs cancel each other out and become positive]

4 + 3

7         The value of 4 - x is 7

Answer:

0.4 inch slices of banana can be cut from this giant banana is, 20

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

The giant banana is 8 inches long.

⇒Length of giant banana = 8 inches

We have to find  how many 0.4 inch slices of banana can be cut from this giant banana.

\text{Number of slices of banana} = \frac{8}{0.4}

⇒\text{Number of slices of banana} = \frac{80}{4}

Simplify:

\text{Number of slices of banana} =20

Therefore, 0.4 inch slices of banana can be cut from this giant banana is, 20

A weather station on the top of a mountain reports that the temperature is currently 0 degrees Celsius and has been falling at a
madam [21]

Answer:

The temperature of the weather station was 3 degrees Celcius an hour earlier.

Step-by-step explanation:

We can say that the weather an hour ago should be represented with the variable - x.

From the problem, we know that the temperature of the station falls at a rate of -3 degrees per hour. This means that for every hour, the temperature of the place will go down by about 3 degrees Celsius.

If the temperature of the weather station is currently 0 degrees Celsius, to find its temperature an hour earlier, it means that we will need to add 3 degrees to its current temperature, because that is what must have lost in one hour.

i.e x = 0 + 3 = 3 degrees Celcius.

This means that the temperature of the weather station was 3 degrees Celcius an hour earlier.
