why is determining the genetic contribution important to assess in stroke patients?

Explanation:

1.Family health history is an important tool for identifying people at increased risk for stroke because it reflects both an individual's genes and shared environmental risk factors. In a 2003 study in Utah, 86% of all early strokes occurred in just 11% of families.

2.Stroke seems to run in some families. ... Members of a family might have a genetic tendency for stroke risk factors, such as an inherited predisposition for high blood pressure (hypertension) or diabetes. The influence of a common lifestyle among family members also could contribute to familial stroke.

3.Stroke also occurs as a complication of several genetic disorders, the most common of these being sickle cell disease.

4.Genes play a role in the development of risk factors that can lead to a stroke, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and vascular conditions. An increased risk for stroke within a family may also be due to common behavioral factors, such as a sedentary lifestyle or poor eating habits. Thus, family health history is an important tool for identifying people at increased risk for stroke.

Nuetrik [128]

All of the following guidelines are important for a healthy fat intake except: Fats should comprise 45% of your daily caloric intake.

  • Adults should consume between 20 and 35 percent of their entire daily calorie intake as fat and not 45%.
  • If one consumes 2,000 calories a day, that equates to 44 to 77 grams of fat.
  • Some types of fats are encouraged because they have positive health effects. Due to the detrimental effects on health, it is advised to consume fewer other forms of fats:
  • Monounsaturated fatty acids: 15% to 20%
  • Polyunsaturated fatty acids: 5-10%
  • Saturated fats: less than 10%
  • Trans fats: 0%

hence, trans fats should be totally cut from the diet, good fats such as olive oil are monosaturated fatty acids and should be consumed more. A little fat i.e., 44-77 grams should be included with each meal to provide satiety.

Which of the following is true regarding panic disorder in children?
AlladinOne [14]

Answer:

A. Children report more cognitive symptoms than adults, is true regarding panic disorders in children.

Explanation:

A. Children report more cognitive symptoms than adults.

Children with panic disorder are more anxious as compared to adults even when they are not having panic attacks. They report severe cognitive symptoms such as fear of an attack, reluctance to perform well in school, avoiding certain places due to fear of attack called agoraphobia, depression, substance abuse and suicidal behaviors. Hence, children may also need psychotherapy along with panic disorder medications so that they could control their anxiety. Early treatment of panic disorder with cognitive behavioral therapies may prevent complications such as agarophobia, and depression in children.

B. Children experience only cued panic attacks.

Both children and adolescents have unexpected panic attacks which might be triggered by anything which causes anxiety in them. They should have varying periods of fear and discomfort which might last minutes to hours.

C. Children may report a general fear of becoming sick rather than specific physical symptom

A child suffering from panic attacks may have heart-attack like symptoms with a racing heart, fear of death and losing control, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and physical symptoms including nausea, vomiting, dizziness, shortness of breath etc. Moreover, children are also left with an intense fear of another panic attack which might trigger these symptoms. Thus, they become less functional and has a fear of changing places, habits as anything might trigger their symptoms. So, children are more anxious about the physical symptoms ensuing the panic attack and tries their best to avoid it.
