we know that

We say that a number is a perfect square if the square root of that number results in an whole number.

so

\sqrt{10} = 3.16

3.16 is not a whole number

therefore

<u>the answer is</u>

No, 10 is not a perfect square because in order for a number to be a perfect square, you have to see if the numbers that are multiplied to get it are the same. for <span>10 it isn't a perfect square because the numbers that multiply to get it (1, 2, 5 and 10) are different numbers.</span>

elena-s [515]

Answer:

Alice will have to pay $13.33

Ben will have to pay $23.33

Kelvin will have to pay $43.33

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that

Alice destination is 20 miles away

Ben destination is 30 miles away

Calvin destination is 40 miles away.

For a mile, taxi costs 2 dollars.

To find:

How much each person has to pay if they share the same taxi to their respective destinations?

Solution:

For the first 20 miles, the taxi will be shared by all 3 of them.

Charges for 20 miles = 20 \times 2 = $40

This $40 will be shared among all 3.

Each will pay = \frac{40}{3} = \$13.33

Charges for Alice = $13.33

Charges for Ben = $13.33

Charges for Calvin = $13.33

For the next 10 miles, the taxi will be shared by Ben and Calvin.

Charges for 10 miles = 10 \times 2 = $20

This $20 will be shared between Ben and Calvin.

Each will pay = \frac{20}{2} = \$10

Charges for Alice = $13.33

Charges for Ben = $13.33 + 10 = $23.33

Charges for Calvin = $13.33 + 10 = $23.33

For the next 10 miles, Calvin travels alone.

Charges for 10 miles = 10 \times 2 = $20

This $20 will be paid by Calvin alone.

Charges for Alice = $13.33

Charges for Ben = $23.33

Charges for Calvin = $23.33 + 20 = $43.33

John's commute time to work during the week follows the normal probability distribution with a mean time of 26.7 minutes and a s
STatiana [176]

Answer:

0.32493

Step-by-step explanation:

We have been given that John's commute time to work during the week follows the normal probability distribution with a mean time of 26.7 minutes and a standard deviation of 5.1 minutes.

We are asked to find the probability that the commute time for a randomly selected day will be between 28 and 34 minutes.

First of all, we will find z-score corresponding to 28 minutes and 34 minutes. Then, we will find area under normal curve between both z-scores.

z=\frac{x-\mu}{\sigma}

z=\frac{28-26.7}{5.1}=\frac{1.3}{5.1}=0.25

z=\frac{34-26.7}{5.1}=\frac{7.3}{5.1}=1.43

Now, we need to find the probability between z-score of 1.43 and 0.25.

P(0.25.

Using formula P(a, we will get:

P(0.25

P(0.25

P(0.25

Therefore, the probability, that the commute time for a randomly selected day will be between 28 and 34 minutes, is 0.32493.
