Y=4x-9
y=x-3

(x-3)=4x-9 -- add 9 to both sides and subtract x from both sides
3x=6
x=2

y=2-3
y=-1

Answer:

<h2>Net proceed= s-0.98nd-11</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the shares cost $d

n shares will be =$dn

paid 2% commission to her broker= (2/100)*nd= 0.02nd

sold the share for $s

paid a fee of $11

Her net proceeds algebraically will be

Net proceed= s-nd-11-0.02nd

collect like terms

Net proceed= s-(nd-0.02nd)-11

Net proceed= s-0.98nd-11

Halle is hiking down into a canyon. She descends 3,000 ft in 1 3/4 hours. To the nearest foot, what number shows her descent per
GarryVolchara [31]
<span>What we are asked to find out is speed per hour. To find speed, divide distance by time. Distance is 3000 ft and time is 1 3/4 hr. To make calculations easier, let us convert time into minutes. 1 hour is 60 minutes and 3/4 hour is 45 minutes. So total minutes is 105. Now let us divide 3000 by 105. We get 28.57 ft per minute. Now multiply this number by 60 to convert speed per minute into speed per hour. 28.57 * 60 = 1714 ft in 1 hour.</span>

A church group is interested in estimating the true proportion of Americans who attend weekly religious services. How large a sa
artcher [175]

Answer:

n=\frac{\hat p (1-\hat p)}{(\frac{ME}{z})^2}   (b)

We can use an estimatior for the population proportion as \hat p=0.5 since we don't know previous info. And replacing into equation (b) the values from part a we got:

n=\frac{0.5(1-0.5)}{(\frac{0.03}{1.96})^2}=1067.11

And rounded up we have that n=1068

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to find the critical value we need to take in count that we are finding the interval for a proportion, so on this case we need to use the z distribution. Since the confidence level is 99%, our significance level would be given by \alpha=1-0.95=0.05 and \alpha/2 =0.005. And the critical value would be given by:

z_{\alpha/2}=-1.96, z_{1-\alpha/2}=1.96

The margin of error for the proportion interval is given by this formula:

ME=z_{\alpha/2}\sqrt{\frac{\hat p (1-\hat p)}{n}}    (a)

And on this case we have that ME =\pm 0.03 and we are interested in order to find the value of n, if we solve n from equation (a) we got:

n=\frac{\hat p (1-\hat p)}{(\frac{ME}{z})^2}   (b)

We can use an estimatior for the population proportion as \hat p=0.5 since we don't know previous info. And replacing into equation (b) the values from part a we got:

n=\frac{0.5(1-0.5)}{(\frac{0.03}{1.96})^2}=1067.11

And rounded up we have that n=1068
