First you want to know what the ratios are. in order they are heartbeats per second, students per instructors and meters per second. when you have a ratio like this the per means divided by, so just put the numbers in their appropriate place in a division problem. for the first its 162/60 to get 2.7 heartbeats per second. can you handle the other two?

Ratios are fractions.  You can set each of these problems up as the first thing over the second thing, and set them equal to x over 1.

5. 162/60=x/1

    x=2.7

2.7 heartbeats per second

6. 216/12=x/1

    x=18

18 diving students per instructor

7. 630/18=x/1

   x=35

35 meters per second.

Hope this helps!!

PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS QUESTION ASAP
lana [24]

Answer:

2x + 5y = -4

Step-by-step explanation:

The standard form for linear equations in two variables is Ax+By=C. For example, 2x+3y=5 is a linear equation in standard form. When an equation is given in this form, it's pretty easy to find both intercepts (x and y). This form is also very useful when solving systems of two linear equations.

Answer:

3k^2 -k+5

reason:

when adding two equations together, you combine like terms.
First, add -2 to 7 to get 5
Then, add k, or 1k, to -2k, which gives you -1k, or just -k
3k^2 stays the same because there are no like terms in the other equation to combine it with

Joe biked 1 9/12 miles from home to the lake,then went some miles around the lake,and then back home Joe biked a total of 4 9/12
dsp73

Answer:

The answer to your question is 5/4 or 1 1/4

Step-by-step explanation:

Data

distance traveled from home to the lake = 1 9/12

total distance = 4 9/12

distance traveled around the lake = ?

Process

1.- Convert the mixed fractions to improper fractions

a) 1 9/12 = (12 + 9)/12 = 21/12 = 7/4

b) 4 9/12 = (48 + 9)/ 12 = 57/12 = 19/4

2.- Multiply the distance from home to the lake by two

        7/4 x 2 = 14/4 = 7/2

3.- Subtract the result of "2" from the total distance

        19/4 - 7/2 = 19/4 - 14/4 = 5/4

5.- The distance around the lake is 5/4 or 1 1/4
