A midpoint lies right in the middle so this splits the segment into two equal halves.

ST = TU

Let's plug the expressions from the picture into our equation.

8x + 11 = 12x - 1

Add 1 to both sides, and subtract 8x from both sides.

12 = 4x

Divide both sides by 4

3 = x

8x^2+1/9
umka2103 [35]

Answer:

A. Quartic

Step-by-step explanation:

I went to desmos graphing,

8x^2+1/9 (plug it in and looked at the line)

It shows a parabola,

y-intercept: (0,0.111)

"Cubic functions. Three points not in a line determine a parabola, a polynomial function of degree 2. Polynomials of degree 2 are quadratic functions. Their graphs are parabolas."

Therefore, this is a quadratic ( quartic) since the degree in this parabola is 2.
