Answer:

In 7 Months both will have same number of comic books.

The both will have 40 comic books in 7 months.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Number of months be x.

Given:

Tom Has number comic books = 5

Each month he receives number of books = 5

Total Number of books he has after x month can be calculated by sum of number of comic books he has + number of comic books he receives multiplied by number of months

Hence Total Number of books he has after x month = 5+5x

Also Given:

Joe Has number comic books = 145

Each month he send number of books to 1 friend = 5

Number of friends = 3

Hence books send to friend each month = 5\times3 =15

Total Number of books he has after x month can be calculated by Difference of number of comic books he has and number of comic books he send to friends multiplied by number of months

Hence Total Number of books he has after x month = 145-15x

We need to find the number of months in which both will have same number of of comic book.

Hence we can find by making both equation equal we get;

5+5x=145-15x

Combining same terms we get;

5x+15x=145-5\\20x =140\\x=\frac{140}{20}=7 \ months

Hence the will have same number of comic books after 7 months.

Now we need to find the number of books the both had after 7 months:

Tom has = 5+5x=5+5\times7= 5+35=40\ books

Joe has = 145 - 15x = 145 - 15\times7 = 145-105 = 40 \ books

Hence they both will have 40 comic books after 7 months.

Delicious77 [7]
For a box shown in the images, to see the more cost-effective option, one has to simply compare which of the two boxes has the large volume. This can be done by multiplying the length, width, and the height to find the volume. This is shown below:

Box A:

Volume = 2 * 3 * 4 = 24 ft^3

Box B:

Volume = 2 * 5 * 2.5 = 25 ft^3

Therefore, the second box is the more cost-effective of the two.

The half-life of a radioactive kind of neodymium is 11 days. If you start with 2,616 grams of it, how much will be left after 22
Ket [755]

Answer:

654 grams

Step-by-step explanation:

When you set up this equation you want the number of grams you start with, 2616, and the factor by which it is decreasing, which is half, or 1/2. Because the half life is 11 days, but you want to find the amount left over after 22 days, you can make 22/11 as the exponent on the 1/2. The equation should look like this : 2616(1/2)^22/11. With these kinds of equations you always want to multiply the starting value by the factor of increase/decrease, and raise that factor to the time eclipsed divided by the set time(like the 11 day half life).
