Regarding how an individual relates with the universe and create meaning, a theologian named Jame Fowler, proposed seven stages of the spiritual development that can be observed all through the lifespan of an individual. The seven stages start at stage 0  and ends at stage 6.

The first stage, tagged “stage 0”, is referred to as the Primal or Undifferentiated stage of spiritual development. This stage starts right from birth of a child  to age 2. At this stage, the major learning that takes place is learning about his environment. The child relies on his or her parents’ guide to learn the safety of their environment. No concept of wrong or right is formed at this stage  to guide their behaviors .
