Job design refers to the process of defining the way work will be performed and the tasks that will be required in a given job.

Managers may be required to design jobs from scratch within a work unit. There are many approaches to job design, each with its own purpose, advantages, and disadvantages.When an organization is trying to improve quality or efficiency, a review of work units and processes may require a fresh look at how jobs are designed. To design jobs effectively, a person must thoroughly understand the job itself and its place in the larger work unit's work flow process. This activity is important because a manager has many alternative ways to design a job when he or she has detailed knowledge of the tasks performed in the work unit and in the job.The goal of this activity is to understand the various approaches to designing a job.Read each scenario, then select the appropriate approach to job design that should be used.(Industrial Engineering, Motivation, Ergonomics, Cognitive Ergonomics)1. Anika [276]

Answer:

Neighbourhood centre

Explanation:

A neighbourhood centre is a place where local local residents have access to a wide range of services. People gather for group activities, social support, public information and so on.

Phil stopped at a shopping center. He parked in front of the dry cleaner, where he could pick up his suit. He did not have to move his car because next door was a gift shop where he could pick up a gift for his niece. Conveniently enough, next door to that store was a supermarket, where he purchased essentials like milk and cornflake cereal.

Phil is at a neighbourhood centre where wide variety of services are provided locally.

Antoine transfers property with a tax basis of $535 and a fair market value of $652 to a corporation in exchange for stock with
Dimas [21]

Answer: $438

Explanation:

Antoine's tax basis in the stock received in the exchange will be gotten as the adjusted basis of asset exchanged which will then be decreased by the liability assumed on the property that's transfered. This will be:

= $535 - $97

= $438

Therefore, Antoine's tax basis in the stock received in the exchange is $438.

"Parker Company stock is currently selling for $130.00 per share and the firm's dividends are expected to grow at 6 percent inde
8_murik_8 [283]

Answer:

Cost of equity = 10.7%

Explanation:

We will work out the required rate of return using the the dividend valuation model. The model states that the value of a stock is the present value of the future divided discounted at the cost of equity.

The model is given below:

P = D× (1+g)/(r-g)

P- price of stock, D- dividend payable now, g- growth rate in dividend, r- cost of equity

So we substitute

130 = 5.50× (1+r)/(r-0.06)

cross multiplying

(r-0.06)× 130 = 5.50 × (1+r)

130 r- 7.8 = 5.50 + 5.50r

collecting like terms

130 r - 5.50r=5.50 + 7.8

124.5 r= 13.3

Divide both sides by 124.5

r =13.3 /124.5= 0.1068

r=0.1068 × 100= 10.7%

Cost of equity = 10.7%
