Job design refers to the process of defining the way work will be performed and the tasks that will be required in a given job.

Managers may be required to design jobs from scratch within a work unit. There are many approaches to job design, each with its own purpose, advantages, and disadvantages. When an organization is trying to improve quality or efficiency, a review of work units and processes may require a fresh look at how jobs are designed. To design jobs effectively, a person must thoroughly understand the job itself and its place in the larger work unit's work flow process. This activity is important because a manager has many alternative ways to design a job when he or she has detailed knowledge of the tasks performed in the work unit and in the job.The goal of this activity is to understand the various approaches to designing a job.Read each scenario, then select the appropriate approach to job design that should be used.(Industrial Engineering, Motivation, Ergonomics, Cognitive Ergonomics)1. A company is evaluating a new 4-year project. The equipment necessary for the project will cost $3,500,000 and can be sold for $
tresset_1 [31]

Answer:

d) $677,532.

Explanation:

1.

Written down value of the equipment after 4 years = Cost x ( 100% - 1st year MACRS - Second-year MACRS - Third-year MACRS - Fourth-year MACRS ) = $3,500,000 x ( 100% - 20% - 32% - 19.20% - 11.52% ) = $604,800

2.

Now calculate the gain on the sale of equipment

Gain on the sale of equipment = Sale Price - Written down Value after 4 years = $715,000 - $604,800 = $110,200

3.

Tax owed = Gain on the sale x Tax rate = $110,200 x 34% = $37,468

After-tax salvage value = Sales price - Tax = $715,000 - $37,468 = $677,532

gogolik [260]

Answer: $65

Explanation: Under the FIFO method, that is, first in first out method inventory is recorded on the assumption that the goods that were purchased first will also be sold first and the remaining inventory will have the latest purchased units.

So, in the given question the two units sold would be costing $80 and $95

Hence,

Gross profit = $240 - ($80 + $95)
