Please help! Is it linear or exponential?

Definitely exponential.  If this function were linear, then the slope, based upon the 1st two points, would be 4; the function would be y-8 = 4(x-2), or

y = 8 + 4x - 8, or y = 4x.  Then, if x = 4, y would be 4(4), or 16.  This is very different from the point (4, 128) given in the table.

The exponential function in question has a first value of 2 and a common ratio of 4.

Solve 4x - 3 = 18. Round to the nearest thousandth.
lorasvet [3.4K]

Answer:

x=5.250

Step-by-step explanation:

We have been given an equation 4x-3=18. We are asked to solve our given equation.

First of all, we will add 3 to both sides of our equation.

4x-3+3=18+3

4x=21

Now, we will divide both sides of our equation by 4.

\frac{4x}{4}=\frac{21}{4}

x=5.25

Upon rounding our answer to nearest thousandth (3 places after decimal) we will get,

x=5.250

Therefore, the solution for our given equation is x=5.250.

Solve the equation for the indicated variable 4=t-7s , for t
solong [7]

Answer:

t = 7s + 4

Step-by-step explanation:

The goal is to get t alone. So we should move 7s to the other side of the equals to sign. When we move 7s to the other side of the equals to sign the sign changes to -7s. There are no like terms to be collected so the answer should be 7s + 4 for t.
