Full Question:

The diagram shows molecules in a fluid. Explain the sequence of events that happens when this fluid cools down. Be sure to focus on what happens to the molecules and to the fluid in general. Five events should be included in your answer. The kinetic energy of the molecules decreases

The molecules slow down

The molecules move closer together

The density of the fluid increases

The fluid sinks

Answer:

When the fluid cools, the kinetic energy of the molecules decreases. This causes the energy of the molecules decreases. This causes the molecules to slow down and move closer together. Sines the molecules are closer together, the density of the fluid increases and the fluid sinks.

Explanation

This is a simple question based on the state of matter. Here the kinetic theory of matter is taken into account. The kinetic theory of matter says that the state of matter is highly affected by the kinetic energy of the molecules. And the kinetic energy is dependent on the temperature. Cooler temperature has lower kinetic energy and vice versa. So, as the fluids cool, the kinetic energy of the molecules decreases, which let's them come closer because of less number of collisions. Thus, the number of molecules per unit volume increase, which is the density of the substance. As the density increase, the fluid starts sinking owing to heavier weight. :

How many moles are in 7.2 x 10^23 carbon molecules?
choli [55]

Explanation:

It is known that in 1 mole there are 6.023 \times 10^{23} atoms or molecules.

It is given that there are 7.2 \times 10^{23} carbon molecules. Therefore, calculate the moles as follows.

     Number of moles = \frac{7.2 \times 10^{23} molecules}{6.023 \times 10^{23} molecules/mol}

                                   = 1.196 mol

Thus, we can conclude that there are 1.196 mol in 7.2 \times 10^{23} carbon molecules.

Which temperature scale has no negative temperatures? A) Celsius B) Fahrenheit C) Joule D) Kelvin
slega [8]
The Kelvin scale has no negatives on it.

Zero Kelvin is 'Absolute Zero', and nothing can get colder than that.

Calculate the number of milliliters of 0.666 M Ba(OH)2 required to precipitate all of the Pb2 ions in 163 mL of 0.656 M Pb(NO3)2
Sliva [168]

Answer:

161 mL

Explanation:

  • Pb(NO₃)₂(aq) + Ba(OH)₂(aq) → Pb(OH)₂(s) + Ba(NO₃)₂(aq)

First we calculate how many Pb⁺² moles reacted, using the given concentration and volume of the Pb(NO₃)₂ solution:

  • 163 mL * 0.656 M = 107 mmol Pb(NO₃)₂

As 1 millimol of Pb(NO₃)₂ would react with 1 millimol of Ba(OH)₂, to precipitate 107 mmoles of Pb(NO₃)₂ we would require 107 mmoles of Ba(OH)₂.

Using the number of moles and the concentration we can calculate the required number of milliliters:

  • 0.666 M = 107 mmol / x mL
  • x mL = 161 mL

Write the ground state electron configuration of zn using the noble-gas shorthand notation.
V125BC [204]
Atomic Number of Zinc is 30, means it contains 30 electrons. So, its electronic configuration is as follow,

                                    1s², 2s², 2p⁶, 3s², 3p⁶, 4s², 3d¹⁰
As,
          1s², 2s², 2p⁶, 3s², 3p⁶ = Argon
So,
Electronic configuration of Zinc in shorthand notation is as follow,

                                     [Ar] 4s², 3d¹⁰
