The probability that it is pink or canvas is 0.9

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us revise the meaning of "or" , "and" on probability :

  • The use of the word "or" means that you are calculating the probability  that either event A or event B happened.  Both events do not have to happen
  • The use the word "and", means that both event A and B have to happen

The addition rules are:

  • P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) ⇒ mutually exclusive (events cannot happen  at the same time)
  • P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A and B) ⇒ non-mutually exclusive (if they  have at least one outcome in common)

Anna is shopping for a new backpack

∵ The probability that the backpack is pink is 0.7

∴ P(pink) = 0.7

∵ The probability that it is canvas is 0.7

∴ P(canvas) = 0.7

∵ The probability that it is pink and canvas is 0.5

∴ P(pink and canvas) = 0.5

Substitute the values above in the rule below

∵ P(pink or canvas) = P(pink) + P(canvas) - P(pink and canvas)

∴ P(pink or canvas) = 0.7 + 0.7 - 0.5

∴ P(pink or canvas) = 0.9

The probability that it is pink or canvas is 0.9

Halim makes a profit of 120% on his cost price by selling a pair of shoes of $45. i) Find the cost pricer of the pair of shoes i
Rus_ich [418]

Answer:

a. $20.45

b. $24.55

c. $4.55

Step-by-step explanation:

In this question, we are asked to calculate the cost price and profit or loss selling a pair of shoes.

we proceed as follows

Firstly, we want to find the cost price given the selling price and the mark up percentage.

mathematically;

profit =( selling price - cost price)/cost price * 100%

here our profit is 120% with the cost price being $45. we plug these values

120 = 45-cp/cp * 100%

120cp = 100(45-cp)

120cp = 4500 -100cp

220cp = 4500

cp = 4500/220 = $20.45

His profit is selling price - cost price = 45 - 20.45 = $24.55

His profit selling same shoe for $25 is 25-20.45 = $4.55

Z=Xm+n-p,solve for x
timama [110]

z=xm+n-p

We need to isolate x to one side I will do that on the left side so it looks cleaner, therefore I will first flip the equation.

xm+n-p=z

Now move the n and p to the right side

xm=z-n+p

x=(z-n+p)/m

Hope this helped, if you have any questions about this just comment and I will come answer.
