To trace our maternal lineage, we observe mutations that have accumulated in our mitochondrial dna (mtdna). in the dna isolation
Sergio [31]
In the coding region, natural selection tends to eliminate all of the mutations because of the high importance these regions have. The coding region contains genes that synthesize proteins and the changes in the DNA sequence can have devastating effects on the cell. Therefore, there are very few differences in the sequences of coding regions that can help us trace the lineage.
On the other hand, in the non-coding regions, the mutations often accumulate because they have little effect on the cell and the adaptive value of the organism. This enables us to trace up the lineage by comparing the sequences and seeing the differences in the sequences.

Answer:

In plate tectonics, a divergent boundary or divergent plate boundary is a linear feature that exists between two tectonic plates that are moving away from each other. Divergent boundaries within continents initially produce rifts, which eventually become rift valleys. The mid-Atlantic ridge is an example of a divergent boundary, where the Eurasian Plate that covers all of Europe separates from the North American Plate. This underwater mountain range is constantly growing as new crust is formed. Further up that same boundary, it passes through Iceland.

If a single mutation turns off the growth of some pairs of legs within an organism, what's most likely affected?
poizon [28]

Answer is A. A Hox gene

Hox genes are a series of genes that controls the differentiation of cells and tissues in an embryo by turn on and off other genes. If Hox genes express incorrectly, a major changes in the morphology of the individual can be seen.

Let’s understand this with an example: The Ultrabithorax, a Hox gene determines the Third thoracic segment in <em>Drosophila melanogaster</em>. Third thoracic segment displays a pair of legs and a pair of reduced wings used for balancing. In the mutant<em> Drosophila</em> the functional Ultrabithorax protein is absent. Due to this mutation, the third thoracic segment now expresses the same structures found on the second thoracic segment, which contains a pair of legs and a pair of wings which are fully developed .
