Lexi purchased 1\frac{1}{2} pounds of green apples and \frac{3}{4} pounds of red ones. In total, she purchased

1\dfrac{1}{2}+\dfrac{3}{4}=\dfrac{3}{2}+\dfrac{3}{4}=\dfrac{3\cdot 2+3}{4}=\dfrac{9}{4} pounds of apples.

If apples cost $1.08 per pound, then the total cost is

\$1.08\cdot \dfrac{9}{4}=\$\dfrac{108}{100}\cdot \dfrac{9}{4}=\$\dfrac{54}{50}\cdot \dfrac{9}{4}=\$\dfrac{27\cdot 9}{50\cdot 2}=\$\dfrac{243}{100}=\$2.43.

Answer: $2.43

How much work is performed lifting in order to lift a 50.0 kg block 7.00 meters? Use g=9.81 m/s^2
Brrunno [24]

The work done in lifting the block is 3430 J

<h3>Calculating work </h3>

From the question, we are to determine the work done in lifting the block

Using the formula,

Work done = mgh

Where m is the mass

g is the acceleration due to gravity

and h is the height

From the question,

m = 50.0 kg

g = 9.81 m/s²

h = 7.00 m

Putting the parameters into the formula,

Work done = 50.0 ×9.8 × 7.00

Work done = 3430 J

Hence, the work done in lifting the block is 3430 J
