Ella is preparing for a 20-mile endurance cycling competition. She practices by cycling at a constant speed of 12 miles per hour

for the first 4 miles. She increases her speed by 1.5 miles per hour every mile until she reaches 12 miles. After crossing 12 miles, she reduces her speed by 3 miles per hour each mile, till she reaches a speed of 15 miles per hour and keeps it constant until the end of her ride. From the graph shown below, find the interval where Ella's speed is increasing.

Answer:

[4, 12]

Step-by-step explanation:

So even though we don't have the graph, we can still figure this out. We just have to read the passage carefully.

Notice how the question says: She increases her speed by 1.5 miles per hour every mile until she reaches 12 miles.

So from 4 miles to 12 miles we are increasing.

Our interval is [4, 12] :)

Find the slope of the line passing through the points (3,-1) and (3, -6).
saveliy_v [14]

Answer:

Undefined

Step-by-step explanation:

Slope formula:

y2-y1/x2=x1

In (3,-1), 3 is x1 and -1 is y1

In (3, -6), 3 is x2 and -6 is y2

-6-(-1)/3-3

Which is -5/0

And that couldn't happen in a slope

So the answer is undefined

Hope this helps!

A PERT project has 45 activities, 19 of which are on the critical path. The estimated time for the critical path is 120 days. Th
AleksandrR [38]

Answer:

P ( 108 < X < 120 ) = P ( -2 < Z < 0 ) = 0.4773

Option E

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

- The estimated time for critical path u = 120 days

- The sum of variances along critical path Var = 36

Find:

What is the probability that the project can be completed between days 108 and 120?

Solution:

- The project always takes route of the critical path activities, hecne, we will ignore the activities that are not on critical path.

- We assume that the probability of completion time is normally distributed.

Normal probability distribution has two parameters- average and standard deviation.

- We will assign a random variable X as the number of days to complete activities on critical path. So,

                            X~ N ( 120 , sqrt(36) )

- We need to find the probability, compute the corresponding Z-scores:

      P ( 108 < X < 120 ) = P ( (108 - 120)/ 6 < Z < 0 )

- Use the Z-Tables to look up the required probability:

     P ( -2 < Z < 0 ) = 0.4773

Hence,

      P ( 108 < X < 120 ) = P ( -2 < Z < 0 ) = 0.4773
