The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho has lessons to be learn't as well as an allegory genre. Allegory mostly are used to teach a moral lesson and they can take the form of stories or poems to convey inner meanings through the characters, setting or plot. i will be discussing the Allegory in the story and the lessons below.

<em>The Allegory in "The Alchemist"</em>: Santiago"s trip reveals details about life and self discovery, his trip is an archetypal hero's journey. the stages in Santiago's journey includes: call to adventure, crossing first threshold, road of trials, rescue from without and crossing return.

Santiago completes his journey and then returns home with the knowledge he gained. some of these archetypes that Paulo Coelho used are: Hero, Ally, Herald, Temptress etc.

<em>The lessons: </em>There are lessons to be learn't also which are;

1. Don't give up when you fail

2.Do what your heart and soul desire in what ever you do.

3. The simple things in life are the most extra ordinary things.
