The correct answers among the choices provided are the second and third options. One reason is the farming life style of North Carolina versus the plantation life style of South Carolina. Disagreement between the Quakers and the Germans was the second reason. In general, there is a huge cultural difference between the two states.

I think one of the reasons is farmers of the north farmed their own land while southerners used slaves or indentured servants, but I could be wrong. As the plantation system expanded across the Lower South, many North Carolina slaves were “sold south” to work on large plantations. North Carolina did not have the same investment in slavery as the South.

The problem was that the national government its self was weak and had no money as they had no authority to tax the states. This change with the constitution which still keep the states as states but adhered much more to the new, divided government that did have the authority to impose a national tax on states.
