<u>According to the Stamp Act tax of 1765 (Duties in American Colonies Act 1765; 5 George III, c. 12), all the printed materials should be followed by this authorized stamp. </u>After the Seven Year War, England increases control over the colonies. The main reason for this ordinance was to pay the stationary troops on the colonies to protect them against a probable French invasion. Even so, this Act was very unpopular among the population.
