Bantu is a general term that refers to 400 different ethnicities in Africa, from Cameroon to South Africa, united by the same family of language, the Bantu language, and in many cases with the same customs. The Bantú does not have a racial type or a uniform culture.
The great extension in Africa of the Bantu linguistic-cultural complex and its large number of speakers is due to a controversial process historically known as Bantu expansion, originated in the central-western African area and directed towards the east and south of the continent. This process would have been triggered by 500 AD. C., extending for more than a thousand years.
