8x+y=54     Eqn 1

3x+y=29     Eqn 2

Dividing both sides by 5

\frac{5x}{5}=\frac{25}{5}\\x=5

Putting x=5 in Eqn 1

8(5)+y=54\\40+y=54\\y=54-40\\y=14

The cost of one French silk cheesecake is $5 and one apple cheesecake is $14.
