A lot of the time when  human sacrifice is involved in the major civilizations of Mesoamerica and South America. The Aztecs believed that they owed every thing to the Gods. Human Sacrifice, It was to please the Gods that they worshiped. For things like better crops, more rain, and etc. Some like the Incas even sacrificed children during famine and special times because children are believed to be the purest.
