Schools should use Elliott's exercise because it brings out innate behaviors and prejudices within children. By exposing how one group can develop a belief of superiority, Elliott conveys the dangers of out-group versus in-group behavior.

Answer:

I think it would feel awful to be part of the inferior group, because you are all of the sudden getting treated worse and having to live as though you’re less than, just because of a difference in your eye color. I think this was a great way to teach the kids about discrimination because it got them to understand how irrational racism is, and how it feels to be the one treated as though they’re less than.

What happened as a result of the so-called Intolerable Acts?
jasenka [17]
The Intolerable Acts not only attacked the economic rights of people in the Massachusetts colony, but also removed their system of self-rule and representative government. The Intolerable Acts closed the port of Boston to imports and exports, appointed a military governor, barred town meetings, and prevented the election of local officials and the selection of jurors. Although colonists viewed earlier tax acts and acts to control trade as unconstitutional, this act actually deprived them of their civil rights. The Magna Carta and British Bill of Rights of 1689 indicate that the King is not above the law, and that certain civil rights are granted to British subjects to ensure that the King does not become to powerful. Among these rights are the right to trial by a jury of one's peers, and the power of taxation resting in the hands of an elected body. Both of these rights were removed with the tax act. The colonists had no form of economic or political defense against the King's absolute rule in Massachusetts.

In the distribution of scarce resources, caste systems rely on_____statuses and class systems rely on _____statuses.
Nat2105 [25]

Answer:

In the distribution of scarce resources, caste systems rely on ascribed statuses and class systems rely on achieved statuses. (letter D)

Explanation:

Class systems present a social hierarchy that results from a person's achievements, that is, through their effort. For instance, you can be born poor but end up wealthy by gaining knowledge that will lead you to better job opportunities. Therefore, this type of system has social mobility. It also allows for interactions between classes.

On the other hand, a caste systems is more rigid. Its statuses depend on what you already possess at birth, on what is ascribed to you. That is, your gender, race, wealth, etc. are all determined by your family, by what you are born with. This type of system does not allow for much mobility.
