What does it mean if a population is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium? Be specific.
Andrej [43]

Answer:

The Hardy-Weinberg law states that in a sufficiently large population, in which matings occur randomly and that is not subject to mutation, selection or migration, gene and genotypic free frequencies are kept constant from one generation to another, once a state of equilibrium has been reached, which in autosomal loci is reached after one generation.

It is said that a population is in equilibrium when the alleles of the polymorphic systems maintain their frequency in the population throughout the generations.

Drag the labels onto the flowchart to indicate the sequence of events that occurs in the presynaptic cell (orange background) an
uranmaximum [27]

Answer:

In chemical transmission the release of chemical messengers known as neurotransmitters occurs. Neurotransmitters carry information from the presynaptic or transmitter neuron to the postsynaptic or recipient cell.

As you may recall from the article on the structure and function of the neuron, synapses are usually formed between the nerve terminals - axon terminals - of the sending neuron and the cell body or dendrites of the receiving neuron.

Scheme of synaptic transmission. An action potential travels through the axon of the presynaptic or emitting cell, and reaches multiple axon terminals branching from the axon. The axon terminal is adjacent to the dendrite of the postsynaptic or recipient cell. This place of close connection between axon and dendrite is the synapse.

A single axon can have multiple ramifications, which allows it to synapse with several postsynaptic cells. Similarly, a single neuron can receive miles of synaptic inputs from many different presynaptic or emitting neurons.

Within the axon terminal of a transmitter cell there are many synaptic vesicles. These are membranous spheres full of neurotransmitter molecules. There is a small space between the axon terminal of the presynaptic neuron and the postsynaptic cell membrane, this space is called synaptic space.

In the 1970s, staghorn corals dominated Caribbean reefs. Since that time, staghorn corals have declined by over 90% and are now
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

The major cause of staghorn corals decline is, that some organisms in the same aquatic environment affect them negatively and harm them a lot.

What do you mean by Corals?

Corals may be defined as marine invertebrates organisms that are composed of colonies of skeletons underwater bodies.

Staghorn is so vulnerable because its branches are so fragile and break by any disturbances. This causes the staghorn to ultimately disintegrate and die.

Therefore, it is well described above.
