The weight of b boxes would be 60b.

In fact, a certain number of boxes will weight

\underbrace{60+60+60+\ldots+60}_{\text{number of boxes}}

This repeated sum of the same number is exactly what multiplication means and so if you sum 60 with itself b times, you'll end up with 60\times b

Can someone please help me with this question?
Bond [772]
First you divide them all by 7 to see which are greater than 19

28/7=4
84/7=12
35/7=5
105/7=15

even if you add 1 to them they all are still less than 19
so select them all

hope this helps! :)

Complete the Square:<br> 5x^2+16x-40=8<br> (please show your steps)
Sav [38]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

divide through by the coefficient of x^{2}

\frac{5x^{2} }{5} + \frac{16x}{5}  + \frac{-40}{5} = \frac{8}{5}

x^{2} +\frac{16}{5}x  -8 =\frac{8}{5}

x^{2} +\frac{16}{5} x = \frac{8}{5}  +8

x^{2} + \frac{16}{5}  x =\frac{48}{5}

Add half of the square of the coefficient of x  to both sides (\frac{1}{2}  X \frac{16}{5} ) ^{2}

x^{2}  + \frac{16}{5}x + (\frac{1}{2}  X \frac{16}{5} )^{2} = \frac{48}{5} +(\frac{1}{2} X \frac{16}{5} )^{2}

x^{2}  +\frac{16}{5} x +(\frac{16}{10}) ^{2} =\frac{48}{5} +\frac{64}{25}

(x +\frac{16}{10})^{2}    =\frac{304}{25}

x +\frac{16}{10} =±\sqrt{\frac{304}{25} }

x = -\frac{16}{10} ± \sqrt{\frac{304}{25} }

x=-\frac{16}{10}  + \sqrt{\frac{304}{25} } or-\frac{16}{10}  - \sqrt{\frac{304}{25} }

x = 1.89 or -5.09

"More than 60% of the students scored below the mean on the last test." Can this statement be true? Why or why not?
Lelu [443]
The mean is the average of a set of numbers.

So if the remaining 40% of students score 100 points, and the 60% score like 50 points, then the mean would still be 70 points because of the 40% of students that scored super high.

So yes, it can be true.
