Suleiman the Magnificent was parcticularly tolerant of other religions in the Ottoman Empire. He even had a wife who had been christian, and later converted to Islam.

He passed laws that protected the Jewish people who lived in the Empire, he also did the same for the rayas, a group of Christians who worked for the Turks, and who were subject to poor treatment.
