1. How does the body adjust to a higher altitude?
Anni [7]

During acclimatization over a few days to weeks, the body produces more red blood cells to counteract the lower oxygen saturation in blood in high altitudes. Full adaptation to high altitude is achieved when the increase of red blood cells reaches a plateau and stops.Heart rate is controlled by the two branches of the autonomic (involuntary) nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). ... At the beginning of exercise, your body removes the parasympathetic stimulation, which enables the heart rate to gradually increase.

Explain character displacement, and provide an example.
nata0808 [166]

A line of indirect evidence of competition comes from the comparison between closely related species, whose population can be allopatric (geographically separated) or sympatric (geographically superimposed). In some cases, the allopatric populations of these species are morphologically similar and use similar resources. On the other hand, sympatric population, which are supposed to compete for resources, have body structures and use different resources. The displacement of characters is the tendency to have more divergent characteristics in sympatric populations of two species than in allopatric populations of the same two species.

An example of character displacement is the variation in size between populations of galapagos finches. Some of its populations are allopatric ( they live separately) and others are sympatric ( they live together). Peak size distributions they vary according to whether they are sympatric or allopatric. They look more alike when they are allopathic than when they are sympatric. That is, the peak size character moves when species enter competition.

Zarrin [17]

Answer:

Dessert and tundra

Explanation:

Theses two biomes get very little rain and because of this they have a less diversity of fauna and flora.

The differences are that a tundra is very dry and extremely cold and on the other hand a desert is very arid and hot and it can go as high as 54°C (130°F).

Suppose individual robins that have longer beaks have somewhat more offspring than those with shorter beaks, and that this has l
Gennadij [26K]
The answer is fitness; directional.

The longer beaked robin's are having more offspring, compared to the shorter beaked robins, because they are more fit in that environment. That's probably due to the type of seeds that exist in the environment. That fitness is directional because there is a phenotype that is favored over other phenotypes.
