Samantha threw an apple out of a window. The equation -16t^(2)+120=y can be used to represent the apple's height above the groun
exis [7]
Check the picture below, y = 0 when that happens

\bf -16t^2+120=0\implies 120=16t^2\implies \cfrac{120}{16}=t^2\implies \cfrac{15}{2}=t^2
\\\\\\
\sqrt{\cfrac{15}{2}}=t

bear in mind the square root would give us a +/- roots, however, since this is seconds, a negative unit would be unfeasible, thus we only used the positive root from it.

What is the height of a triangle<br> with a base of 6 cm and area<br> of 18 cm2?
zalisa [80]

= 6cm

Area of Traingle = 1/2 x base x height

Which means that:

18 = 1/2 x 6 x height

x 2 on both sides

36 = 6 x height

divide 6 on both sides

height = 6 cm

Keith has p pennies, n nickels, and d dimes in his pocket. the total number of coins is 9. the expression 0.01p+0.05n+0.10d0.01p
sineoko [7]
The total number of coins is 9. Therefore
  p+n+d = 9                (1)
There are two fewer nickels than dimes. Therefore
  n = d - 2                  (2)
From (1) and (2), obtain
p+(d-2)+d = 9
p + 2d = 11
p = 11 - 2d                                           (3)
Total value:
0.01p + 0.05n + 0.10d = 0.53             (4)
Substitute (2) and (3) into (4).
0.01(11-2d) + 0.05(d-2) + 0.10d = 0.53
0.11 - 0.02d + 0.05d - 0.10 + 0.10d = 0.53
0.03d + 0.01 = 0.53
0.13d = 0.52
d = 4
p = 11 - 2d = 11 - 8 = 3

Rewrite the expression, the quotient of k decreased by 4 and 9, using the division symbol and as a fraction.
AlexFokin [52]

Answer:

(k - 4) ÷ 9

(k - 4) / 9

Step-by-step explanation:

k decreased by 4 = k - 4

quotient of k decreased by 4 and 9

= (k - 4) ÷ 9 (using division sign)

Or

= (k - 4) / 9 (as a fraction)

Which of the following equations would transform the tangent graph to the parent cotangent graph?
Mrrafil [7]

Answer:

D

Step-by-step explanation:

First you need to make it either -tan(x) or tan(-x) to get it oriented correctly (Flipped over the x or y axis, either works) and then moved left or right by pi/2, again, either works.  You cannot have both tangent itself and x be negative though, like in C, because that just undoes the flipping.    just like a +pi/2 would undo a-pi/2.
