Answer:

This answer is based on opinion, so I wrote as if I agree that there should be muckrakers.

I believe muckrakers are still needed today. Historically, muckrakers created public awareness of corruption, social injustices and abuses of power.  The in depth encounter would bring national awareness to these issues, and would often bring change.  Although modern work environments follow stricter guidelines, no system is perfect, and injustices still occur.  I believe the presence of Muckrakers in would affect todays society similarly to they way they historically affected society, by leading to public outrage at hostile work experiences, and thus resulting in fairer work environments.

How would you define progress ? (based of imperialism & industrial revolution) ??help
vichka [17]

Answer:

Even though Imperialism has been lessened to an extent, is still strong today. Fueled by an industrial revolution, Imperialism thrived during the 19th century. Napoleons empire built a since of unity in Europe, causing the birth of nationalism, as in England and Germany. This since of nationalism brought forth economic competition between rivaling countries. The Industrial Revolution began in the early 1700's with the invention of the steam engine. Fueled by a recent agricultural revolution, England was the first to Industrialize. With the creation of the steam engine, large factories began springing up, attracting workers and thereby creating small industrialized towns such as Manchester and Brighton. The Agricultural Revolution helped provide a large population, filling the factories' needs for workers. But with these towns there became a serous problem of over crowding in the cities. There were many good and bad effects of the Industrial

Franklin D. Roosevelt, in his speech "Four Freedoms", in 1941, mentioned some things that can be considered inconsistent with the US policy, because when he says: 1<em>) "The need of the moment....is to meet this foreign peril. For </em><em>our domestic problems are now a part of the great emergency</em><em>" and 2) "Just as our national policy in internal affairs has been </em><em>based upon a decent respect for the rights and the dignity ofall our fellow men..."  </em>are not consistent with all the discriminatory practices blacks faced at that time.
