The factor has a significant impact on a firearm's maximum projectile range is the altitude. Altitude or height (sometimes known as depth) is defined based on the context in which it is used (aviation, geometry, geographical survey, sport, and many more). As a general definition, altitude is a distance measurement, usually in the vertical or "up" direction, between a reference datum and a point or object.

EXPLANATION:

However, more three factors influence the effective span of a weapon the most are the weapon used, the ammunition, and the environment. They will be explained below:

1. The Weapon

The actual weapon used has an important effect on the distance a bullet can carry. Specific weapons influence the muzzle's speed and bullet accuracy. The muzzle velocity can be defined as the speed of the bullet leaving the barrel.

2. The Ammunition

The certain ammunition that is used also has a large influence on the effective range of weapons. Different ammunition values will have distinct quantities of propellant. Generally referred to as gunpowder, a propellant is the part of the container that essentially burns and pushes the bullet down. Ammunition that has more propellant will have a higher velocity of the muzzle. The other way which ammunition influences the effective range of weapons is the authentic shape of the bullet. Modern bullets are further aerodynamic, that enables them to travel further.

3. The Environment

One factor that is usually forgotten that influences the effective range of weapons is the place or environment in which it is shot. Some factors of the environment which need to be considered are the altitude, humidity, temperature, and wind. Most factors of environment can be narrowed down to one more particular factor: resistance.
