Answer: The Mayflower Compact is important because it was an early attempt at self-government(A). It was essentially a set of rules in which everyone agreed to follow.

Explanation: I got the answer correct and none of the other answers fit. It didn't help religious toleration. This document was written in 1620 and the last colony out of the 13 was founded in the 1700's so they couldn't have chosen representatives for a colony/colonies that didn't exist yet. Lastly, the English government didn't care about the Mayflower Compact as it didn't hurt them so it couldn't have led to conflict. Due to this, A is the only answer that makes sense and is correct.
