The outcome of the war was that , a peace treaty, The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed in the 2nd of February, 1848. The signing of this treaty ended the war between the United States of Mexico. The 1848 treaty forced into the remnant Mexican government, ended the war and specified its major consequence, the Mexican Cession of the northern territories of Alta California and Santa Fe de Nuevo México to the United States.
