Area = length * breadth

Area = (7/8) *  (1   1/2)                        1   1/2 = 3/2 as improper fraction

Area = 7/8 * 3/2 = 21/16

Area = 21/16 = 1.3125 square miles.

The clothes weigh 14.77 kilograms.

Given:
Weight of suitcase = 50 pounds
Towels = 20% of weight
Shoes = 15% of weight
Clothes = 65% of weight

convert pounds to kilograms using proportion:

pounds        2.2 = 50
kilograms       1           x

2.2x = 50 ⇒ x = 50/2.2 ⇒ x = 22.73 kgs

Clothes : 22.73 kgs * 65% = 14.77 kgs
Towels  : 22.73 kgs * 20% =   4.55 kgs
Shoes   : 22.73 kgs * 15% =   3.41 kgs
