The human genome project (HGP) was an international project with the goal of determining and the sequence of nucleotide base pair that make up human DNA.
Genome mapping is used to identify and record of genes and to find distance between the genes on a chromosome. It provides the starting of human genome project. There are two types of genome mapping:
Genetic mapping and physical mapping: Both types of mapping guides location towards the gene on a chromosome.
Genetic mapping is used to find find genetic information present on the chromosome during meiosis.
Physical mapping is used to find physical distance between known DNA sequences including genes.
