Bone marrow produces immature rbc and wbc’s which form the shape which later these blood cells develop throughout the body. sickle cell anemia is a blood issue in which the cells are shaped differently making blood clotting and production difficult, by getting a transplant to exchange this bone marrow which produces the premature blood cells can change how they develop. Answer:

A bone marrow transplant is used to replace defective and ineffective bone marrow with healthy and effective marrow.

Explanation:

Red blood cells are manufactured in the bone marrow.  The bone marrow of a sickle cell patient produces red blood cells that are sickle shaped and ineffective.   Chemotherapy is used to kill all of the defective bone marrow and a bone marrow transplant is used to replace it.
