D "In the meantime, women - including many African American women - assisted the war effort at home by working in factories and offices."

The excerpt talks about the importance of african american women in the States during WWII and how eventhough they didn´t have rights, or could vote, and segregation was still a thing, they cooperated by working in the industry and taking care of the house while their men fought overseas.
