What is Pythagoras Theorem ?
Nikitich [7]
Pythagoras Theorem is the way in which you can find the missing length of a right angled triangle.
The triangle has three sides, the hypotenuse (which is always the longest), Opposite (which doesn't touch the hypotenuse) and the adjacent (which is between the opposite and the hypotenuse).
Pythagoras is in the form of;
a²+b²=c²
However, it can also be written in the form of c²=a²+b²
In order to find the hypotenuse, you will have the length of two sides, for example, these could be 3 and 4.
As 'C' is always the hypotenuse, you have to work out the two other lengths, and you do this by squaring the numbers.
3²=9 and 4²=16.
As you're looking for C, you've got to add these together
9+16=25
As a²+b²=c², this means that the answer for C is the square root of 25.
√25= 5

A 16 inch candle is lit and burns at a constant rate of 1.1 inches per hour. Let t represent the never of hours that have elapse
Alex17521 [72]

Answer:

(a) Number of inches that have burned from the candle since it was lit is (1.1t) inches

(b) The remaining length of the candle is (16 - 1.1t) inches

Step-by-step explanation:

(a). Length of candle before it was lit = 16 inches

Constant rate at which at which candle burns = 1.1 inches per hour

Let t represent the number of hours that have elapsed since the candle was lit

In 1 hour, 1.1 inches of the candle burned

Therefore, in t hours, (1.1t) inches of the candle would have burned since the candle was lit

(b) Remaining length of candle = length of candle before it was lit - length of candle that have burned = 16 inches - 1.1t inches = (16 - 1.1t) inches

Hey can someone help?
Ronch [10]

The value of the given variable x in the missing angles is; x = 12°

How to find alternate Angles?

Alternate angles are defined as the angles that occur on opposite sides of the transversal line and as such have the same size. There are two different types of alternate angles namely alternate interior angles as well as alternate exterior angles.

Now, from the question, we can see that ∠4 and ∠6 suit the definition of alternate angles and as such we can say that they are both congruent.

Since ∠4 = (8x + 4)° and ∠6 = (6x + 28)°, then we can say that;

(8x + 4)° = (6x + 28)°

Rearranging this gives us;

8x - 6x = 28 - 4

2x = 24

x = 24/2

x = 12°

Point m lies between points l and n on line segment l n . the space between l and m is 10 x 8. the space between m and n is 5 x
Ivenika [448]

The length of line segment l n on which point m lines in between is 64 units. Option 4 is the correct option.

What is the length of line segment?

Length of a line segment is the distance of both the ends of it.

Point m lies between points l and n on line segment l n .

 • The space between l and m is 10x 8.
 • The space between m and n is 5x -4.

The value of line segment LN is,

LN = 12x +16

The sum of LM and LN is equal to the line segment LN. Thus,

LM+MN=LN\\10x +8+(5x-4)=12x+ 16\\10x +8+5x-4=12x+ 16\\10x+5x-12x=16 -8+4\\3x=12\\x=\dfrac{12}{3}\\x=4

Put this value of x in the equation of line segment LN,

LN = 12(4) +16\\LN=48+16\\LN=64\rm\; units

Thus, the length of line segment l n on which point m lines in between is 64 units. Option 4 is the correct option.
